How we got here

Signnect didn’t start as a big platform idea. It started as a need.

In 2019, Shanna launched ASL Mentors and the demand showed up fast—learners, families, students, and interpreters all wanted the same thing: real conversation practice with Deaf mentors.

The problem? The original setup wasn’t designed for growth.
So we built what the community was already asking for:
Signnect — a platform built to scale Deaf-led practice without turning it into “school.”
